Mary Alice Cox “Mac” Schweitzer was born in Ohio in 1921. With a two-year scholarship recognizing her precocious artistic abilities, she studied at the Cleveland School of Art before moving to Arizona in 1946. Based in Tucson, she produced hundreds of artworks shown by prominent galleries, sought by eager collectors, and acclaimed by art critics of the day.
